Åboholm Tiveden – welcome to the heart of Sweden

Åboholm - zurück zur Natur für vielfältige Menschen

Åboholm

Welcome to the heart of Sweden

As guest in nature

Our holiday homes are located in a forest clearing between three lakes. Here you can enjoy nature and tranquillity to your heart’s content, go hiking, swimming or cycling.

With this place, we have fulfilled a long-cherished dream. We live in harmony with nature, eat organic vegetarian food, utilise and design the surroundings, rebuild the houses in a sustainable way, love natural gardening and art (especially literature), meditate – together or in silence.

And we look forward to seeing you.

Our vision

The world is spinning faster and faster. We are flooded with bad news every day. As a result, we often lose touch with what makes us who we are and what we want to achieve the world.
Åboholm stands for a life close to nature. The bad news is far away, the internet is switched off, but it is a place of (neurological) diversity. No matter how much you may struggle with the demands of society, you are welcome! With us, you can find your way back to yourself, whether alone or with your family.

Our large glade with its old and new, typically Swedish wooden houses is a jewel in the middle of lakes and forests in the immediate vicinity of Tiveden National Park. You can enjoy nature and visit various sights on the walking, hiking and cycling trails. The canoe trail leads across the seven lakes connected by old dams, and there are many bridle paths along the lake shores. There is also plenty of history to discover here, as the clearing has been inhabited and cultivated since the early 18th century.

Åboholm has six holiday flats with one to five bedrooms in typical Swedish wooden houses. Each equipped with kitchen and bathroom, heating and wood-burning stove, cosy sitting areas and comfortable beds. We are gradually making them more sustainable, but there are already several beautiful flats available.

Back in the early 18th century, iron ore was mined and processed on Åboholm. The workers and their families lived in several houses. A water-powered sawmill was added.
Today, some sheds, ruins and a few residential buildings remain from these early activities. And water is still the soul of the estate. Åboholm borders Kvarnsjö to the east, Höjlevattnet to the west, and in the centre is our own small pond. Several creeks flow through our property.
