The castle is located near Askersund on a high headland between Lake Alsen and a waterway that connects the lake with Vättern. The building was constructed between 1798 and 1801 according to drawings by the architect Carl Fredrik Sundvall in the neo-antique style that was common at the time. The castle, the carriage museum, the dairy and the café are open to visitors in summer, but the park is also worth a visit outside of opening hours.
